26 May 2010 : As the new coalition government forms its plans for the future healthcare landscape, healthcare specialist Clinical Solutions warns that ‘power to the people’ is crucial to delivering improved patient care and efficiency savings.
The key to achieving these improvements is giving patients the knowledge and confidence to manage their own health problems, and to know when they need to seek specialist advice, maintains Clinical Solutions, the leading provider of health-based customer relationship management (CRM) and clinical content solutions.
In the week of the Patient Safety Congress in Birmingham, Dr Jean Challiner, CMO at Clinical Solutions says, "The internet has given consumers the ability to take more control over their lives in a number of different ways. In the healthcare setting we believe it is critical to facilitate access to high quality information through this channel, giving 'power to the people' to ensure patient safety whilst promoting leaner and more efficient processes'.
"Through technology we can deliver high quality, up to date information from credible sources along with the tools that patients need to assess themselves, for either self-care or to establish the most appropriate level of care for them'.
"Directing the patient to the most appropriate level of care (including self-care) is not only the single biggest lever to contain the economics of the health ecosystem, it is also a necessary step to provide quality of care – the right care from the right care giver first time round."
