23 June 2011 : The Garston Walk-in Centre (WIC), which is part of Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust, has relocated to a new state of the art building. The WIC is utilising software to enable an extra 15,000 people to benefit from the service each year, and help reduce patient waiting times.
Housed in the South Liverpool Treatment Centre, the WIC incorporates IntefleCS Treatment Centre software, developed by Clinical Solutions, which allows patients to be tracked throughout the entire episode of care. This reveals where processes can be streamlined, contributing to wait time reductions.
Richard Atkins, UK & Ireland sales director at Clinical Solutions explains, "To effectively manage waiting times it is essential that the patient is tracked as soon as the first encounter is initiated, through to conclusion.
"Each stage of the patient pathway, from registration to patient discharge, is time stamped to enable staff to analyse where improvements can be made. This allows for a sleek but detailed clinical assessment record to be created in real time - providing quality patient care and reducing waiting times."
Bernie Cuthel, chief executive of Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust, said: "The state of the art centre is three times bigger than its predecessor, and the new facilities, which include IntefleCS technology, provide the capacity to treat a larger number of people. This will greatly reduce strain put on the A&E department – benefiting patients and the NHS."
Atkins summarises, "Our IntefleCS solution is at the core of delivering results to the 40,000 people using the Liverpool WIC each year. We are delighted to see our technology and clinical content helping NHS staff deliver quality service to patients at a long term cost-benefit. This has a significant impact on the primary care services community and the people they treat."
